How Voltranker scores a car
Published in full, applied identically to every vehicle, and versioned so any past ranking can still be audited against the rules in force at the time.
The eight pillars
An editor scores each pillar from 0 to 100 and must write a justification for the number. The composite is calculated from the weights below. There is no field anywhere in our system for typing a final score — it can only ever be the output of this arithmetic.
Weights are the same for every car in every tier. Ranking happens within a tier only.

What each pillar measures
Value
Weight 22%
Ex-factory and estimated on-road price against what the car delivers in range, equipment and warranty, measured within tier. A cheap car is not automatically good value and an expensive one is not automatically bad.
Reliability
Weight 22%
Battery chemistry and thermal management, global field record where one exists, warranty terms, and any reported fault pattern in Pakistan. Where a model is too new for evidence, it scores at the platform average rather than optimistically.
Performance
Weight 18%
Power, torque, acceleration, ride and refinement — judged against segment expectation, not in absolute terms. A budget hatchback is not marked down for being slower than a premium SUV.
After-Sales
Weight 12%
Authorised dealer count, geographic spread, parts availability and reported lead times, and service network depth outside the four largest cities.
Company Trust
Weight 12%
Length of commitment to Pakistan, local assembly investment, transparency about specification changes, and behaviour when things go wrong. This pillar cannot be influenced by a Verified subscription.
Charging Network Compatibility
Weight 5%
What share of the mapped public network the car can actually use, given its connectors and maximum charge rate. A CCS2 car with high DC acceptance scores highest.
Pakistan Road Suitability
Weight 5%
Ground clearance, suspension tuning for Pakistani surfaces, and how much usable range survives a Karachi summer with the air conditioning running.
Market Sentiment
Weight 4%
Owner sentiment, resale demand signals and search interest. Capped so it can never move a composite by more than four points in either direction.
Rules that constrain us

No manual adjustment
The composite is computed on save. No editor, and no administrator, can type a final score.

No cross-tier ranking
Cars are ranked within tier only. No field exists in our database that could produce a site-wide leaderboard.

Incomplete means unranked
If any of the eight pillars is unscored, the car is excluded from rankings entirely rather than ranked on a partial score.

Every pillar is justified
A pillar score cannot be saved without a written justification, which is what makes a challenge answerable with evidence.

Every change is logged
Old value, new value, who changed it, when, and under which methodology version. The log is append-only.

Commercial is separate
Verified status lives on the company record and is unreadable by any scoring function.
